DIY -MAKE YOUR OWN HERBAL TEA!

DIY -MAKE YOUR OWN HERBAL TEA!

How about falling asleep faster than you're used to - waking up more alert than you thought possible. Is caffeine the next culprit to go into the spotlight after the sugar wave?

In the spring of 2017, I stopped drinking coffee and tea with caffeine. I dislike when I feel I "have to" do something and my coffee drinking was a real must. The actual procedure to stop drinking coffee went just fine. I barely thought about it. It should be added that I drank between 5-8 cups a day!

I have not experienced that I have had sleep problems but what happened now was for me a huge change. After a week without caffeine, I fell asleep the second I laid my head on the pillow. I woke up, wide awake and alert, around 05.30 every morning and it was totally impossible to fall asleep again. If the effect had lasted for a short while, I would not have been so overwhelmed. The effect is completely unchanged after almost six months and for me it is very clear - decaffeinated is here to stay. Now it's soon spring again and I love to drink a good cup of tea. Here are some of the blends I make when I'm in the DIY mood and do not buy decaffeinated in a health store.

Soothing evening tea with lemon balm

Take 1 tablespoon dried lemon balm or 5-6 fresh leaves, put in a cup and pour on hot water. Let soak for about 10 minutes, strain and drink.

Detox with Dandelion - diuretic and super tasty

Boil just under 2 decilitres of water in a saucepan. Remove the pan from the heat and add 2-3 thin dandelion leaves and a small piece of washed and peeled dandelion root to the water. Let soak for about 10 minutes, strain and drink.

Invigorating tea with Mint

Peppermint is good to use as a base when making herbal tea. It can be mixed with other herbs, such as sage or lemon balm. But it is also possible to use it alone. Take 5 fresh leaves, put in a teacup and pour over 2 decilitres of hot water. Leave on for 5-10 minutes.Beer leaf tea with LemonTake 2 teaspoons - 3 birch leaves, fresh or dried to 2-3 dl boiling water. Let soak for at least 5 minutes! Strain and drink! Feel free to squeeze fresh lemon juice in as a flavor enhancer! NOTE! However, should not be drunk as an evening drink as it is diuretic.
