You can find it most easily in Skåne on Öland and Gotland but it grows all the way up to Uppland. The plant resembles lily of the valley but you shouldn't eat it as it is poisonous! If you are in doubt rub the leaves a little, they should have a faint scent of garlic. It is free to pick wild garlic according to the right of public access but in many places it is protected because it grows in nature protected areas where special rules apply.
If you're lucky and find a lot of wild garlic, you can try mixing up a delicious pesto. So delicious to serve, for example, as a snack on crostinis, on pasta or pizza, with grilled root vegetables or on salmon in the oven.
Ramson pesto:
100 g spring onions
500 g cashews (or almonds)
5 dl olive oil (or more)
300 g Parmesan cheese (or Västerbotten cheese)
Mix all ingredients into a coarse mixture and season with salt.
