Every year the littering gets worse. We treat nature like our common trash can, how did this happen? We decorate and care for our homes, but we throw crap on our common home. The irony is that many people invest in spring cleaning their homes (with strong chemicals) and "detoxing" their bodies with expensive juices, but completely ignore what it looks like in the nearest natural area. Everything that is thrown into nature affects water and soil and eventually ends up in our bodies again. Wild animals whose homes we invade are affected even worse. A detox or spring cleaning worth the name is to start where life begins in nature!
Plogga originated in the brain of a man named Erik Ahlström, a trail runner and entrepreneur who, when he moved to Stockholm in 2016, wanted to do something about littering. He started the organization Plogga https://spark.adobe.com/page/JjtHQYm7ijmVg/ The vision is simple: to create a clean Sweden by bringing people together and making a difference together. Make it hip to pick up litter.
That's probably the smartest thing I've heard in a long time. You too, join in: go out by yourself or with family and/or friends, bring a couple of (recycled!) bags and pick up the trash that's lying along the way. Throw it in the nearest trash can or garbage can. Think of the difference you can make: a cigarette butt takes 15 years to decompose. A soda can takes 200-400 years, a plastic bottle takes 450 years, a glass bottle takes 1,000,000,000 years and your cardboard coffee cup takes 50 years to decompose (source: Plogga's website, see link above). You can find Plogga on Facebook and Instagram, where you can stay updated on joint events if you want to plow with others.
